ZERO 10X Review

The ZERO 10X is a great choice for those looking to get around in style. It offers an incredibly comfortable ride and plenty of performance, making it a perfect option for commuters and adrenaline junkies alike. With its sleek design and powerful motor, the ZERO 10X is sure to turn heads wherever you go.

This review will provide an in-depth look at the features of the ZERO 10X and discuss how they make it such an enjoyable ride. We’ll dive into topics like battery life, speed, acceleration, range, and more. Plus we’ll also touch on what makes this particular model stand out from other electric scooters on the market today.

Let’s jump right into it.

Speed, Acceleration & Motors

The ZERO 10X electric scooter is equipped with two powerful 1000W motors, which deliver an impressive top speed of 31 mph. The motors offer a smooth and effortless ride, and they are also incredibly silent, making for a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

The dual-motor setup also provides excellent acceleration, allowing the scooter to go from 0 to 15 mph in just 3 seconds.

Top Speed Test

We conducted a top speed test on the ZERO 10X electric scooter, and it delivered an impressive top speed of 36 mph, which is one of the fastest speeds in the market for an electric scooter.

The top speed may vary depending on the weight of the rider and the terrain, but overall, the ZERO 10X offers excellent performance in terms of speed.

Performance Drop-Off Test

We also tested the performance of the ZERO 10X electric scooter by conducting a drop-off test. We ran the scooter at its top speed until the battery ran out, and we observed that the performance drop-off was minimal.

The scooter maintained its speed and power until the battery ran out, which is a testament to its robust performance and powerful motors.

Acceleration Tests

In ZERO 10X, the acceleration can be tailored to the rider’s preferences. The scooter’s acceleration can be adjusted through the control input. The available options range from 1 to 5, with 1 being the lowest acceleration and 5 being the highest.

The scooter’s acceleration is not only customizable but also incredibly smooth and responsive, making it easy for the rider to control the scooter.

Hill Climb Test

The ZERO 10X electric scooter also performed exceptionally well in our hill climb test. We tested the scooter on a steep hill, and it climbed the hill with ease, thanks to its powerful motors and excellent traction.

The scooter maintained its speed and power even on steep inclines, which is a testament to its excellent performance capabilities.

Battery and Range

The ZERO 10X electric scooter comes equipped with a powerful 18Ah Li-ion battery, which is supposed to provide a range of up to 33 miles. However, our testing revealed that the actual range is closer to an average of 28 miles, which is still a respectable range for an electric scooter.

The charging time for the battery is around 12 hours, which is slightly longer than some other commuter electric scooters on the market. However, the battery life is excellent, and the charging time can be easily managed by charging overnight or during downtime.

Range Test

We conducted a range test on the ZERO 10X electric scooter, and the results were impressive. The company claims a range of up to 33 miles, and our testing showed an average range of 28 miles. The range may vary depending on factors such as rider weight, terrain, and speed, but overall, the ZERO 10X delivers excellent performance in terms of range.

Range Vs. Price Test

We compared the ZERO 10X electric scooter’s range to its price and found that it offers excellent value for money. The scooter’s range of 28 miles is impressive, especially when considering its price range, which is similar to other high-performance electric scooters.

Compared to other electric scooters in the market, the ZERO 10X offers a more extended range, making it an excellent option for daily commuters who need to travel longer distances.

The ZERO 10X electric scooter weighs 80 pounds, which is much heavier than other electric scooters on the market. At first sight, it might look like a skinny version of an ATV (that’s how wide it is) so it is NOT very portable or easy to carry around.

The folding mechanism of the scooter is smooth and straightforward, and it can be easily folded and stored in the trunk of a car or carried on public transport.

The ZERO 10X is slightly heavier than its counterparts. The ZERO 10, weighs around 52 pounds, while the ZERO 8 & 9 are even more lighter (40 lbs) but 10X performance capabilities make up for the additional weight.

Ride Quality & Suspension:

ZERO 10X tires

The ZERO 10X electric scooter delivers an excellent riding experience, thanks to its top-notch ride quality and suspension system.

The ZERO 10X electric scooter features 10-inch air-filled tires that are designed to provide a comfortable and smooth ride. The tires are made of high-quality rubber and have excellent grip, allowing the scooter to navigate various terrains with ease.

The tires are puncture-resistant and durable, ensuring that they last a long time without requiring frequent replacements.

In addition to the twin rear shock absorbers, the ZERO 10X electric scooter also features front spring suspension systems.

The combination of these two suspension systems provides a smooth and comfortable ride on various terrains, absorbing shocks and vibrations effectively.

The suspension system is adjustable, allowing riders to customize their ride based on their preferences and the type of terrain they are riding on.

Build Quality And Safety

The ZERO 10X electric scooter is built to high standards, with a focus on safety and durability.

The ZERO 10X electric scooter has a generously-sized deck, measuring 21 inches in length and 9 inches in width. The deck provides ample space for riders to comfortably stand and ride, regardless of their foot size.

The deck is made of high-quality materials which are strong enough to support riders up to 330 lbs, making it suitable for riders of different sizes and weights.

The deck’s non-slip surface provides a secure grip for riders, reducing the risk of slipping or losing control of the scooter.

The ZERO 10X electric scooter is equipped with front and rear hydraulic disc brakes, which provide excellent stopping power and control. The disc brakes are highly responsive, ensuring that riders can stop the scooter quickly and easily, even at high speeds.

The front and rear disc brakes work together to provide a balanced and reliable braking experience, ensuring that riders can ride with confidence and safety.

The ZERO 10X brakes require minimal maintenance, making them a convenient and cost-effective braking solution.

The ZERO 10X electric scooter comes with a built-in headlight, rear light, and underdeck light, making it an excellent choice for riding at night. The lights not only provide better visibility, but they are also energy-efficient, ensuring that they do not drain the battery excessively.

The addition of under-deck light in ZERO 10X takes its aesthetic game to a whole new level, something we didn’t get to see in previous ZERO models.

This is the area where ZERO put their least effort, let’s see why. Unlike the ZERO 10 (non-X version), the ZERO 10X doesn’t come with a foldable handlebar which further adds to its non-portability.

To make the situation even worse, the stem is also non-adjustable, it is fixed at a height of 39 inches. On the bright side, ZERO 10X comes with comfortable rubber grips, ensuring that riders can ride for extended periods without experiencing discomfort or fatigue.

Dust & Water-Resistance

One major downside of the ZERO electric scooter is that most of their models don’t have a dust or water resistance rating. Although it is built with sturdy materials, the lack of rating means that the scooter is not suitable for riding in rainy or dusty conditions.

Riders should take extra precautions to protect the scooter from moisture and dirt. It is recommended to avoid riding in extreme weather conditions or on wet surfaces as it may damage the scooter’s internal components.

It is also important to keep the scooter clean and dry after each use to maintain its longevity.

The ZERO 10X electric scooter is a reliable and durable scooter, built to high standards and designed for long-lasting use.

The scooter’s high-quality components and materials ensure that it can withstand regular use and abuse, while the well-designed suspension system and brakes provide a smooth and safe riding experience.

The scooter’s reliability is further enhanced by the warranty, which covers manufacturing defects and faults.

ZERO 10 vs 10X – is it worth buying 10X?

When it comes to comparing the ZERO 10 with its higher-end counterpart, the ZERO 10X, there are certainly some notable differences. The 10X offers a smoother riding experience, better off-road capabilities, and a wider deck, which is great for riders with larger feet.

However, the 10X also comes with a significantly higher price tag and is not as portable as the ZERO 10. The handlebars do not fold, and the stem is fixed, which can make it difficult to store and transport.

Ultimately, whether or not the ZERO 10X is worth the extra money depends on the rider’s specific needs and preferences. For riders who prioritize off-road capabilities and a wider deck, the 10X may be a worthwhile investment. For riders who prioritize portability and convenience, the ZERO 10 is likely the better option.

The ZERO 10X electric scooter is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a high-performance scooter with great speed, acceleration, and power.

Its powerful motors, customizable acceleration, and excellent hill-climbing capabilities make it a versatile and reliable scooter that can handle any terrain or riding condition.

The ZERO 10X is also a comfortable and enjoyable scooter to ride, thanks to its smooth and effortless operation. Overall, the ZERO 10X electric scooter is a reliable and dependable mode of transportation, ideal for commuting or leisure riding.
