ZERO 8X Review: Is it really worth the hype?

ZERO 8X Review

The ZERO 8X electric scooter is a popular choice among e-scooter enthusiasts who are looking for a high-performance electric scooter with great speed, acceleration, and range.

This scooter is an upgraded version of the ZERO 8. The ZERO 8X is a powerful electric scooter that boasts a high top speed and impressive range.

In this review, we’ll take a close look at what makes the Zero 8X stand out from other models. We’ll evaluate its design, power, speed, range, and overall usability to give you an idea of whether or not it’s worth your money.

Speed, Acceleration & Motors

The ZERO 8X electric scooter is a speed demon, with a top speed of around 32 mph. The top speed may change based on the weight of the rider, terrain, and wind conditions. Generally speaking, a speed of 25 mph is enough to cruise around cities. The extra speed is for adrenaline junkies who are looking for some off-road action.

ZERO 8x has a small build but packs a powerful punch. It is equipped with two powerful 800W motors with a combined output of 1600W and a peak power output of 2300W. This powerful motor ensures that the scooter has plenty of power to tackle steep hills and uneven terrain. On top of that, the motor is also whisper-quiet, which means that you can use the scooter without disturbing your neighbors.

The acceleration of the ZERO 8X is impressive, with the scooter reaching 20 mph in less than 4 seconds. This quick acceleration is not only capable but impressive compared to other high-end models of ZERO like ZERO 10x or 11x, considering they have more powerful motors.

The ZERO 8X was also tested for its ability to climb hills, and we found that it could easily climb 10% grade hills without any difficulty. The powerful motors provide enough torque to climb steep hills with ease, making the ZERO 8X an ideal choice for riders who live in hilly areas.

Battery Life & Range

The ZERO 8X has a powerful 48V 13Ah battery that has a capacity of 936 Wh and provides an impressive range of up to around 45 miles on a single charge. The range can vary based on a number of factors such as rider’s weight, terrain, speed, and battery condition. But, even at its lowest range, the ZERO 8X can still cover a distance of up to 35 miles on a single charge.

The charging time for the ZERO 8X is also impressive, with the battery taking only around 6-8 hours to fully charge. This means that you can easily charge the scooter overnight and use it for your daily commute without any worries.

ZERO 8X folded

One of the standout features of the ZERO 8X is its portability. Despite being a powerful electric scooter, it only weighs 40 lbs, making it easy to carry around when not in use (yes 40 lbs are heavy but it’s still better considering 10X weighs a whopping 80 lbs.

The scooter also has a folding stem and folding handlebar, which makes it easy to store in small spaces, but we find it a bit difficult to fit in small car trunks.

When folded, ZERO 8X is around 3 to 4 inches longer than a normal scooter. This is still very portable and makes ZERO 8X an excellent choice for those who have limited storage space.

Suspension and Ride Quality

The ZERO 8X offers exceptional performance and smooth ride quality thanks to ZERO-tested spring suspension systems and high traction tires.

The 8-inch airless tires on the ZERO 8X are designed to provide good shock absorption and a smooth ride. The tires are maintenance-free, which means you don’t have to worry about getting a flat tire or inflating them. But, airless tires are not as good as air-filled tires when it comes to shock absorption, and they can feel slightly harder when riding over bumps.

ZERO 8X features a hybrid dual spring and hydraulic suspension system. The dual suspension system helps to absorb shocks and provide a comfortable ride. On top of that, the suspension is adjustable, allowing you to adjust the level of shock absorption to suit your preferences.

Overall, the combination of the airless tires and the suspension system on the ZERO 8X makes it an excellent choice for those who need to ride on rough terrain or uneven surfaces.

The ZERO 8X has a sleek and stylish design that is sure to turn heads. It has the perfect blend of performance, style, and technology. The design of this e-scooter is sleek and modern with its angular lines and bold color choices.

Build Quality and Safety

The ZERO 8X electric scooter is built with high-quality materials, making it a sturdy and durable option for riders. It’s built with a sturdy aluminum frame that can withstand wear and tear while still being lightweight enough for easy portability.

The deck of the ZERO 8X is wide and spacious, providing enough room for riders to comfortably stand on the scooter. The deck is made of high-quality materials and can withstand daily use without showing any signs of wear and tear.

The deck has a maximum load capacity of 265 lbs (120 kg) and also features grip tape, which provides extra grip and helps prevent the rider’s feet from slipping.

ZERO 8X cockpit

ZERO 8X’s cockpit features an LCD display, which provides riders with all the necessary information they need to know about their ride.

The LCD display is located on the right-hand side of the handlebars and shows important details such as battery life, speed, and distance traveled – making it easy for riders to stay informed throughout their journey.

The ZERO 8X electric scooter features a comprehensive lighting system, which includes front and rear lights, as well as under-deck lights. The front light is not much bright as we expected and provides minimum visibility.

The under-deck lights are a nice addition, providing additional visibility and making the scooter more aesthetically appealing. For night riders, we will definitely recommend adding more lights.

The ZERO 8X features a dual-disc braking system, which provides excellent stopping power and ensures that the rider can stop the scooter quickly and safely.

The braking system is responsive and easy to use, providing a smooth and controlled braking experience.

Stem & Handlebars

The handlebars on the ZERO 8X are well-designed and provide a comfortable and ergonomic grip. The stem is adjustable, allowing riders to customize the height and angle to suit their preferences.

The handlebars also feature a brake lever and a throttle, which are both easy to use and provide a smooth and responsive riding experience.

Water and Dust Resistance

Unfortunately, the ZERO 8X does not have any specific water and dust resistance rating. This means that while the electric scooter may be able to withstand some light rain or splashes of water, it is not recommended to ride it in heavy rain or through puddles.

The same goes for dusty or sandy conditions, as excessive exposure to these elements may cause damage to the motor and other components of the scooter. If you live in an area with frequent rainfall or dusty conditions, it may be best to consider other options that offer water and dust resistance ratings.

Final Verdict – Is ZERO 8X worth it?

The ZERO 8X is an electric scooter that has been making waves in the market lately. Its powerful motor and impressive range make it a tempting option for those looking for a reliable mode of transportation. However, the question remains: is it worth buying?

The answer to this question depends on your needs and preferences. If you’re someone who values speed and power, then the ZERO 8X might be worth considering. With its top speed of 32 mph, this electric scooter can get you from point A to B in no time. Its long-range battery also means you won’t have to worry about running out of juice mid-ride.

While there’s no denying that the ZERO 8X is an impressive piece of machinery, there are some drawbacks worth considering before making your final decision.

For one thing, it’s quite heavy for its size, weighing in at around 40 pounds. This means you’ll need some serious muscle power to carry it around. Another thing that might bother you are the airless tires. Although they have their own benefits, I personally like the feel and comfort of air-filled tires.

Again these are personal preferences. Nonetheless, 8X is a beast of a scooter and a great option for anyone looking for a reliable and efficient electric scooter.
